Lightning struck and knocked out power for "about a minute" around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a spokesperson at Wegmans Northborough. At 11 p.m., the store was still open but operating on a generator. Wegmans is open until midnight.
A spokesperson from Wegmans said that there was a power outage in Northborough that "lasted about five seconds that happened at about 9:45 p.m. What we think happened is a transmission line was struck that serves the area. It experienced a momentary outage but came right back."
National Grid had no information about Wegmans, stating, "It's possible that it's a problem that's internal to Wegmans, but we're not showing any customers without service."
Northborough Police said that there were "no outages reported" as well.
Northborough Patch will update as information becomes available.
