Have you noticed a new restaurant while driving around the MetroWest area recently? We know you don't just stay in town when you want to eat out: so here is a round-up of restaurant news around the area.

Westborough

Chateau Supports Marathon Tragedy Victims

The Chateau Italian Family Dining restaurant held a fundraiser for the Boston Marathon tragedy victims last month.

The restaurant donated 20 percent from its lunch, dinner and take-out sales to The One Fund Boston.

New Dunkin Donuts Opening

We answered this emailed inquiry: When will the new Dunkin' Donuts on Route 9 open?

Dunkin' Donuts franchisee Brian Marino told Westborough Patch the new shop at 183 and 185 Turnpike Road will open in early June.

The current Dunkin' Donuts at 133 Turnpike Road will close "within a day or two (maybe even the same day)," Marino said.

Bagel Bistro Supports Marathon Victims

Following the Boston Marathon tragedy, the Bagel Bistro is selling Boston cream pies and cupcakes, and donating the proceeds to The One Fund Boston Inc., which supports those affected by the bombings.

The Boston cream pie is Massachusetts’ official dessert.

“My thought was, ‘Whenever something like this happens, you want to do something. Often, you feel so helpless,” said Elizabeth Chitow, who owns the Bagel Bistro, at 72 East Main St., with her husband Stephen.

Moe's Southwest Grill Eyes Westborough

A local Moe's Southwest Grill franchisee wants to open one at Otis Street at Route 9, according to Westborough health officials.

The owner eyes the former Relax The Back Store, now vacant, in the shopping center at 76 Otis St., Director of Public Health Paul McNulty told the board of health in his March report. The store is vacant, McNulty said today.

The franchisee also owns the Moe's on Route 9 in Shrewsbury, McNulty wrote.

Would You Welcome Chick-Fil-A?

Chick-fil-A wants to open a chicken restaurant at Westborough's Speedway Plaza, on Route 9.

Selectmen voted Tuesday night to hire traffic engineer Ron Muller & Associates to do a peer review of Chick-fil-A's traffic study of the site, at 270 Turnpike Road, at the restaurant chain's expense.

Westborough has had similar reviews done of other projects, also at the particular applicant's expense, Town Manger Jim Malloy said.

Town Planner Jim Robbins said Chick-fil-A plans a new building "at the entrance to the Speedway Plaza, on the left."

Visit Westborough's New Sushi Bar

Sake Hana Asian Cuisine and Sushi Bar opened last month.

The Sake Hana Asian Cuisine and Sushi Bar held its grand opening on the rotary, at 21 South St., the former Hisa Japanese Cuisine site.

The Sake Hana will be open seven days a week, according to the restaurant's website: 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

New Frozen Yogurt Shop Planned

iYogurt has a "coming soon" sign in theWestborough Shopping Center, at 30 Lyman St., between Lyn Evans Potpourri Designs andMayuri Indian Cuisine.

Milford

Central Tavern to Open

The Central Tavern is expected to open at 31 Central St. by May. It is owned by Paul Iacovelli,who runs Kapi's Pub on North Main Street in Uxbridge, and Alfred Pighetti, a Milford firefighter who said he plans to retire next year and is looking for a new business venture.

Closing shop

Adirondack Smokehouse Deli, a two-year deli business on South Main Street, closed last month.

Shrewsbury

Yelp's Best Shrewsbury Restaurants

Many use Yelp to help inform dining-out decisions. But really, residents are the best judge of whether a local restaurant is worth a visit. So, we figured we'd see what Yelp is saying are the best restaurants in town, and ask you if you agree.

Framingham

Brooklyn Water Bagels Opens

The Framingham location is at 341 Cochituate Rd, in the plaza with Five Guys Burger and Fries and Boston Market. The eatery is open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The Framingham location can seat about 50 customers.

Franchise owners Jennifer and Stephen Ashkinos of Sudbury, have been prepping the eatery and giving out samples to curious customers all week.

Brazilian American Pizza & Bar to Open

Extravaganza Brazilian American Pizza & Bar opened last month at 47 Beacon St., formerly the site of Daniela’s Cantina, and received a beer and wine license, along with a common victualer’s license from Framingham Selectmen.

CJ's Serves Beer, Wine Now

CJ’s Northside Grill received a beer and wine license from Selectmen, a move the owner said reflects changing demographics in the Nobscot neighborhood. 

Owner Chris Gagen, who has operated CJ's since 2011, said the restaurant is looking to augment an expanded menu that emphasizes full dinner offerings along with the shop's popular sandwiches.

Ruby Tuesdays Closed

Ruby Tuesday, in the Trader Joe's and Staples plaza on Route 9 in Framingham, is closed.

"We do have plans to close this location; however, a confirmed date is not available at this time," said Meridith Hammond, communications manager for the chain, from their corporate office in Mayville, Tennessee.

The chain is not closing, just the Framingham location. Since the first story ran, the restaurant closed for good.

LandoZ Hometown Grille Closed

LandoZ Homewtown Grille, which just opened late last year, is closing.

On its Facebook page the owners wrote: It is "with great sadness that the Lando Family has to close the doors due to unforeseen medical reasons. We can't thank all of you enough for making our short, but exciting run, a successful venture. We only wish we could continue to hold on till it really picks up however we just can't manage. THANK YOU especially to the best staff an owner could ask for. It's time to move on and get back to being healthy again."

Sabrina Wong III Closed, Then Open

Sabrina Wong III is open for business. The Nobscot Chinese food restaurant passed its health inspection and re-open on Thursday night, said Health Director Ethan Mascoop.

On Wednesday night, the Framingham Board of Health voted unanimously Wednesday to temporarily close Sabrina Wong III until it could pass an inspection.

"Word is going to get out that you have a problem," Health Board Chair Michael Hugo told the owners Wednesday night. "But if you are open, it will say that it is solved."

As part of the suspension of the license for one-day, the restaurant owners Annie Su and Yihuan Lei must also hire a food safety consultant and submit a plan by Tuesday, April 9 by 5 p.m. If not done, the restaurant's license could be suspended again.

Health Inspectors Close Downtown Restaurant

The Framingham Health Department has suspended Copacabana Grill’s license to operate, after inspections last week identified a dirty kitchen and staff improperly handling and storing food.

The owner Jose Lucio Venancio was ordered to appear before the Framingham Board of Health Wednesday night, but he did not show.

Northborough

China Moon For Sale

Open for a little more than a year, China Moon is for sale, said owner Yi Chen.

Chen took over the restaurant, which was formerly Great Wall, located at 259 Main St., in August of 2012. Great Wall had been permanently closed by the Board of Health due to numerous violations.

Subway Coming to Northborough

Subway Restaurant will be opening up next to Cocobeni Confections in the plaza at 247 West Main St.

Builders from GMG Group told Patch it should be about two to two-and-a-half months until the restaurant is complete.

BeeZers is Open For Season

Hot diggity. On Marathon Monday, BeeZers opened.

The Chicago hot dog stand, which returned to Northborough last year and shares a building with Trombetta's, opens for the season on April 15.

"We're excited to be back!" said owner Linda Bock.

Marlborough

Bolton Tavern Opened

The Bolton Street Tavern opened its doors to welcome in the community which has greeted the new restaurant with open arms.

"The community has been very welcoming to us and we want to welcome the community to our place," said John Stounaras who owns and operates the restaurant located at the site of the former Piccadilly Pub at 587 Bolton St. with his wife Sharon. "It's very, very exciting."

As the renovations were undergoing at the building and the soft opening of the business took place, people would stop in and wish them luck and commend them on the work they were doing, he said. The opening weekend is a way to give back to the community which has already reached out to the business.

Medfield

Blue Moon Now Serving Pizza Friday Nights

Last month, at the request of several customers,Blue Moon Bagel Cafe brought back its Pizza Nights to wild success.

"Very yummy - was there tonight," commented one Patch reader on our Facebook page. 

Blue Moon will now stay open until 8 p.m. on Friday nights to serve its gourmet pizza.

"Our thin crust pizza is made with our delicious rustic artisan dough and baked in our brick oven," said General Manager Jim Hatch in an email to Blue Moon Club members.
