Letter to the school community from Dr. Charles Gobron, superintendent of schools
As we start our winter break and look forward to the new calendar year, I think it’s important to mention just how much I appreciate the hard work and strong support of the educational communities of Northborough and Southborough.
We have had a challenging week, dealing with the aftermath of last Friday’s senseless tragedy in Connecticut, and we have all pulled together to support our students and reassure parents and staff that safety is a top priority for all of us in the schools.
We are most fortunate that public safety officials in both Northborough and Southborough continue to be valued partners in our efforts to review policies, procedures, and practices, examine security measures, and make any needed improvements in each of our ten schools.
When it comes to school safety, we can never be complacent so I have appreciated receiving feedback this week from parents, community members, and educational colleagues. We have placed the topic of school safety on the agenda of next month’s Northborough, Southborough, and Regional School Committee meetings. We will continue to have discussions and work together to strengthen safety protocols and emergency response plans. During the next several weeks, we will keep you informed of progress in this very important area.
Best wishes for a very safe and happy holiday season.
