Assault Leads One to the ER With Stab Wound to the Chest

One man has been arrested and another is in the hospital following an assault that happened in Northborough on Friday night.

On Dec. 14, police responded to a 911 call shortly after 9:30 p.m. from a residence at 508 Green St. The caller said that he was assault by a man who wielded a baseball bat, according to police.

When police arrived, the man, who was in the attached garage at the home, they found that the caller had suffered minor injuries.

During the course of the assault, one male was alleged to have been stabbed, and police learned that another man left the scene before they had arrived.

A short time later, the Berlin police called, stating that a man with an apparent stab wound to the chest had come to the station, and said that he was assaulted in Northborough. EMS brought him to UMass Medical Center in Worcester, said police.

The two men knew one another, said police, and were both involved in the assault.

Police arrested Donald F. Williams, 56, who lists his address 240 Pearl St., Gardner, and charged him with assault, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a knife, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.

The second subject was undergoing treatment at UMass Medical Center and had not yet been charged.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, with search warrants being executed at the residence and on the vehicle operated by the subject who drove to Berlin.

Northborough police, along with State Police Detectives assigned to District Attorney Early’s office and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section are investigating.
