Have you noticed a new restaurant while driving around the MetroWest area recently? We know you don't just stay in town when you want to eat out so here is a round-up of restaurant news around the area.

Framingham

Outback Steakhous Coming to Former Big Papi's Location

The home of the Bloomin' Onion will soon call Framingham home, according to a sign at the construction site.

Framingham Beer Works to Open

Framingham Selectmen gave approval for a Framingham Beer Works to open in the former Bugaboo Creek Restaurant. The building is undergoing renovations and is expected to open in late 2012. Selectmen were asked to approve an all-alcohol and restaurant license for Slesar Bros. Brewing Company.

Sad news, too. Carrie Anne's Closed

Carrie Anne's closed last month. The diner, which opened in 2011, was a campaign stop for Sen. Scott Brown, R-Wrentham, who visited a week before its closure.

Brown stopped by on Oct. 9 with former New Jersey Gov Christie Todd Whitman, his wife Gail Huff and daughetr Ayla as part of a campaign tour to meet constituents.

During the stop he mentioned how Carrie Anne's was an example of his "We Built This, Not Government" campaign.

Northborough

Yowza! Opens

Need a sweet treat? Along with partners James and Brenda Brown, Scott and Lala Boyers, who also own Lalajava Coffeehouse, are opening YOWZA at 269 West Main St.

Building it "from the ground up," YOWZA is a weigh and pay, self-serve frozen yogurt place. Boyers says featured flavors will change each day, and can be topped with a variety of choices available at the condiment bar in the middle of the store.

Don't Be Fooled—Bangkok Thai's Closure Temporary

The sign on the door may say "Closed," but rest assured, it's not forever.

The East Main Street eatery at 57 East Main St. is "temporarily without a lead chef," and expects to "re-open within two weeks," owner "B.B." said recently in a statement released through his attorney, John Matson.

"The chef who has worked at Bangkok Thai since it opened has some personal (matters) out of state to deal with," the statement says.

Marlborough

Updated, Modern Twist on Wendy's

Fast food in Marlborough became a little more exclusive last month. The Wendy's on Route 20 opened with a modern design from the outside that is featured on only 10 stores in the country.

The goal of the revamped store, from its comfortable seating area to wi-fi bar, is to encourage people to spend time in the restaurant. The variety of seating, from booths to stols to a more relaxed area with a fireplace are all designed to provide a comfortable place to eat and relax.

The food will be different too, with bakery snacks and a new coffee line. A new soda machine allows up to 130 flavor combinations to be selected from a fully digital screen.

Did we miss any openings? Have you tried any of the new restaurants? Tell us in the comments.
