This lonely pile of sand sits outside of the Highway Department on Main Street hoping to be used on the streets this weekend.

Snow and ice. We don't know how much we'll get this season, but the town has set its fees for plowing and sanding/salting on private ways for the 2012-2013 winter season.

The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the fees suggested by DPW Director Dan Nason.

Private ways scheduled for plowing and sanding/salting during the season include: Harris Ave., Green Street, Howard Street, Kimberly Lane and Maple Lane.

Fees were increased by 3 percent, or five dollars, from last year. This year, the fee will be $170 per storm per private way.

The Public Works Department requires alì private ways seeking snow removal services to  receive sanding/salting services to ensure public safety of all motorists, including Fire, Police and Public Works Department personnel.
