Submitted by the office of Jamie Eldridge
State Sen. Jamie Eldridge, D-Acton, announced endorsements by more than municipal officials from all 14 communities in the Middlesex and Worcester district. Thirty-seven selectmen and city councilors and 30 school committee members have given Eldridge their endorsement and full support in his bid for re-election.
“I’m grateful to have the support of so many local leaders.” Eldridge said. “I have always made it a priority to improve public education for every child and to fight for increased local aid for our cities and towns. I’m honored that so many municipal officials have endorsed my bid for re-election.”
“I have found Jamie Eldridge to be very responsive to me as a local official,” said Shirley Lundberg, chair of the Northborough-Southborough Regional School Committee. “He takes my concerns and my phone calls very seriously and advocates for the issues important to our schools. He has been a presenter at the Division IV (Central Massachusetts) meetings of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees. He also has been an active advocate for Chapter 70 and regional school transportation funding, which are both essential to maintain the integrity of school budgets.”
Senator Eldridge cited his work on increasing local aid to cities and towns and increases in Chapter 70 education funding as examples of his leadership on behalf of the communities he represents. Eldridge also highlighted his work on Special Education Circuit-breaker funding, the Fitchburg and Worcester commuter rail lines, an update to the Green Communities Act, and regionalization and school transportation funding for local school districts.
"Jamie Eldridge is an extremely hard-working state senator for all of his communities,” said Marlborough City Councilor Edward Clancy. “There is hardly an event that he isn't at in Marlborough, and he is very responsive in fighting for increased state aid and infrastructure grants to help create jobs and support families."
"I wholeheartedly support and respect Jamie Eldridge,” Westborough School Committee Chair Ilyse Levine-Kanji said. “During my four years on the Westborough School Committee, I've found Jamie to be easily approachable and very responsive. Jamie has the intelligence, determination and experience necessary to address the difficult problems of our times. His integrity and strength of character make him an asset to the Massachusetts Senate and to the fourteen communities he represents.”
“I am personally endorsing Senator Jamie Eldridge for re-election to the Massachusetts Senate,” said Mayanard School Committee Member Bill Kohlman. “He has worked diligently to ensure that the state adequately funds both Chapter 70 (Education) and the Special Education circuit breaker. He understands that not all towns can simply pass tax overrides to make up the difference if the state does not keep pace with funding to these areas. This can mean the difference between just providing an education to our students and providing them a future.”
