GFWC Northboro Junior Woman’s Club erected a Peace Pole in 2009, now located in Assabet Park on Route 135, in honor of World Peace Day. Since then, the group has held a ceremony to mark this special day each year on Sept. 21.
For 2012, the club has invited Susan Whitten, principal of the Zeh School, to speak at the event, which will start at 6 p.m., before dusk. There will be some short readings, some music and audience participation.

The Peace Pole is inscribed with “May Peace Prevail On Earth” in eight languages.
"We hope you and members of the community will be able to join us there," said Laura LaBrecque of the Junior Woman's Club, "to celebrate, honor and hope for peace in our world."
