The Algonquin Regional High School and Westborough varsity boys lacrosse teams raised about $2,000 Wednesday night to support wounded soldiers, Westborough head coach Tom Baker said.
The proceeds from the "Face Off For a Cause" match at Westborough High benefited the Wounded Warrior Project, which seeks "to honor and empower Wounded Warriors who incurred a physical or mental injury, illnesses, or wound, co-incident to (their) military service on or after September 11, 2001," according to its website.
The fundraiser was the Rangers' community service project, Baker said. Admission was free, but donations were accepted.
Both teams and their coaches wore special uniforms during the game.
Algonquin won, 7-6.
