Even with Jennifer Drohan throwing her hat in the ring as a write-in candidate for the Northborough K-8 School Committee, there were still no contested races in the Northborough town election.
Seemingly, that could account for the low voter turnout. Of the 10,510 registered voters in Northborough, 293 voted in Monday's election, accounting for 2.79 percent of the voters.
Drohan was successful with her write-in campaign, and got 64 votes, indicating she will accept the position, according to Town Clerk Andy Dowd.
Frederick George was elected as town moderator for another term with 268 votes. With 253 votes, Leslie Rutan returns to her seat on the Board of Selectmen. Michelle Gillespie, too, will continue on the Planning Board, pulling in 228 votes. The Regional School Committee welcomes back Joan Frank, who got 246 votes.
There were 13 write-in votes for Board of Selectmen, 7 for Planning Board, 30 for School Committee (in addition to Drohan's votes) and 4 for Regional School Committee.
