When it’s time to celebrate, bake a cake! That’s just what Wegmans will do on Saturday, Aug. 11, in honor of USA Olympic athletes and medalists, many of whom hail from places where Wegmans has stores.
“We are in awe of what these athletes have accomplished,” says CEO Danny Wegman. “They instill a sense of pride in all of us, and I can’t think of a better reason to celebrate.”
At Wegmans locations, including Northborough, celebration cakes are served to customers and employees at noon on Saturday.
Stores have been asked to use their creativity and ingenuity to design the cakes and to decorate the area where cake will be served.
“Count on red, white and blue as the color theme. Beyond that, it will be surprise at each store.” says Jo Natale, Wegmans’ director of media relations.
