The second annual Make Your Mark Sports Raffle Night is happening at Chet's Diner on Saturday, Aug. 11. Starting at 6:30 p.m., participants can hope to win from a plethora of prizes, including autographed sports items and tickets.
Make Your Mark raises money for the Mark Fidrych Foundation and the Miracle League of Massachusetts and is the kick-off event for a softball tournament happening later in the month. The Miracle League of Massachusetts supports 107 special needs children offering free baseball to in the Spring and the Fall.
Mark "The Bird" Fidrych, who grew up in Northborough, was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 1975, breaking many records and being named "rookie of the year." After retiring, he moved back home to his farm, where he died tragically in an accident in 2009.
His daughter Jessica Fidrych, who owns Chet's, continues his philanthropic outlook by organizing fundraisers in his name.
Raffle winners' name will be drawn the day of the softball tournament, which is Aug. 25.
Raffle prizes include Red Sox Vs. Yankees tickets, Patriots tickets, Red Sox ottoman, Celtics tickets, restaurant gift certificates, autographed sports memorabilia and a lot more.
Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.
