A Northborough man is being charged with damaging a car with a golf club during an altercation late Saturday night.
Joseph G. Intrieri, 23, of 15 Hillside Rd. in Northborough, was arrested and charged with malicious destruction of property over $250 after he allegedly struck a vehicle with a golf club.
Officer Patrick Kelly and Sgt. Joseph Galvin responded to a call about a "disturbance" on Hillside Road, and saw a car parked in front of 15 Hillside with three people inside. One man, who was the driver, and two women got out of the car to talk to Kelly.
They pointed to the hood of their car, which they say had been struck with a golf club by Intrieri, who was inside the house.
One of the women told police that she and her friend had been in Intrieri's house, when they both left to get a ride from their friend.
The women told police that when they went to get into his car, Intrieri "ran out of his house yelling and holding a golf club. He then ran up to the car and struck it at least one time on the hood." When police asked what the possible motive was, they said that their male friend had "squealed his tires when he arrived to pick them up and Intrieri didn't like this."
Intrieri, who was inside with another male friend, gave Sgt. Galvin the club he was holding at the time of the incident, said police, telling them he didn't hit the car with the club, but rather used his fist.
"The damage to the vehicle caused a crease in the metal that was consistent with the golf club and not someone's fist," read the incident report.
The damage was estimated at more than $250, and Intrieri was charged and booked.
