A now, we can officially get excited about summer. There's nothing like the crack of the bat, the snap of the ball against leather, and the cheers from the stands; baseball is officially back in Northborough for the season.
The Northborough Baseball and Softball Association kicks off its opening day on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Memorial Field.
The teams line up at the Peaslee School starting at 9 a.m., parading to the field for a ceremony that starts at 9:30 a.m.
Activities run all day and include mini-games, home run contests, bouncy houses, a DJ, obstacle course, face painting, hot air balloon, BBQ, raffles and more.
This year, as posted on its Facebook page, NBSA is partnering with Birthday Wishes, a local organization that provides birthday parties to homeless children.
"Help us provide sports themed parties to local homeless children," says the post. "Please bring sports themed party items (plates, tablecloths, favors, etc.), gift cards (Target, Dick’s, Sport Authority) or new, unopened baseball themed gifts such as a baseball, bat or glove."
