Northborough Goes for Gomez, Markey, in Primary

With less than 17 percent of registered voters in Northborough turning out for Tuesday's special primary election for U.S. Senate, Republicans chose Gabriel E. Gomez and Democrats chose Edward J. Markey.

With all four precincts reporting, 700 voters chose Markey compared to competitor Stephen F. Lynch, who got 329. There were two write-ins for the democratic candidate.

Republicans picked Gomez with 353 votes, compared to 276 for Michael J. Sullivan and 54 for Daniel B. Winslow.

1,714 voted in Tuesday's primary in Northborough.
