Two candidates local to Lancaster and Sterling, as well as a Northborough man, are finalists for the Veterans Agent for that region, according to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.
Gerald Bourque is among the three finalists. A commander at the Northborough American Legion, Korean veteran and owner of a computer and printer company that employs veterans, Bourque has long been a fixture in the town of Northborough.
All three men gave interviews to the Lancaster Board of Selectmen. The position, a veterans service officer, is paid by the towns "to help local veterans navigate the complex federal bureaucracy and claim all the rights, benefits and honors due to them for their military service," said the Telegram.
