In honor of Louise Houle, who started the effort more than 25 years ago, the Northborough Woman's Club and Community Affairs are once again keeping the tradition alive by organizing the Annual Town Cleanup.
The cleanup takes place on Saturday, April 27, from 7:45 a.m. to noon, followed by a "thank you cookout" at Ellsworth McAfee Park. Participants meet at the Melican School at 7:45 a.m. to pick up gloves, bags and street assignments. The rain date is April 28.
Virginia Simms-George stressed that volunteers can cleanup areas any time between Saturday and Monday, and that the DPW will pick up bags throughout the weekend.
"You can sign up, pick up the bags, and just leave them for the DPW," she said. "Last year, we had more than 100 volunteers, which was one of the best years. We ask for your support."
