The Federal Drug Administration is warning consumers to stay away from energy drinks and dietary supplements that include an ingredient known as DMAA, or dimethylamylamine, due to associated health impacts.

The warning, issued Thursday, comes as three members of Congress, including Democratic Senate candidate Edward Markey, released the results of an investigation report that found teens and young adults were most often the target group for advertising by energy drink manufacturers.

Producers of energy drinks are not required under current federal regulations to disclose caffeine amounts. Markey told The Boston Globe that practice should end, and that federal regulators should also investigate the companies' advertising practices.

What do you think? Should the manufacturers of energy drinks be more closely regulated?
