A Canadian man has been charged with sexual assault of a woman he met at a trade show in Marlborough, said police.
Tyler Buttle, 31, 2901 Greenfield Rd., Inverary, Ontario, has been charged with two counts of indecent assault and battery and assault with intent to rape.
Early Friday morning, shortly after 2 a.m., Northborough police responded to a call at a house on Main Street, where the homeowner said a woman had come to their home shortly after 2 a.m. The woman knocked on the door seeking help because she had been assaulted, said police.
"The female was visibly upset and was soaking wet," reads the incident report.
According to police, the victim and Buttle had met earlier in the day at a trade show that was held in Marlborough, where Buttle was staying at the Best Western.
Marlborough police assisted in the investigation.
At some point, the victim accepted a ride from Buttle, and he drove her to the parking lot of the Pheasant Hill Community, 490 Main St., where the suspect allegedly assaulted the woman. When she attempted to run away, said police, Buttle ran after her, led her back to the car, and assaulted her again.
According to police, she was able to flee again, and ran across the street, hiding in some bushes, and eventually knocking a door for help.
Buttle was arraigned in Westborough District Court Friday morning.
