Northborough Parks and Recreation Director Allie Lane said that the number of snow days this year knocked its annual summer program down a week, from eight to seven. The last day of classes in Northborough is June 26.
"We're really bummed out about it," said Lane, who added that it also will account for about a $26,000 loss to the department. "It's a lot, and we haven't figured out how we will make up for that.
July 1 marks the first day of camp.
The good news is that Parks and Rec. received more than 40 applicants for seven openings this year for seasonal help. The influx was the most Lane says she has seen, and was partly due to conducting interviews in March (as opposed to earlier in the year).
"The pool was bigger this year and we hired a lot of older, more experienced kids," she said.
