Kevin Brown, Northborough native and third baseman at Bryant University, was named Louisille Slugger National Player of the Week and Northeast Conference Player of the Week, according to an article posted by the Bryant Bulldogs.
Brown, who is a senior at Bryant, has earned the conference title twice, and statistics show a .667 hitting average, .800 on base percentage and 1.583 slugging percentage. According to Bryant, Brown "tripled, hit three home runs, drove in 14, scored 11 runs, walked 11 times and stole seven bases."
"Kevin Brown is an outstanding individual in all respects," Fran Whitten, athletic director for Algonquin, told Patch. "He has the strongest work ethic I have ever seen in a student and athlete. Kevin is also an outstanding leader and person of character. We are proud to say Kevin is from Algonquin."
Neil Burke, Brown's former coach at Algonquin, added that Brown "was an outstanding baseball player for Algonquin. Kevin was one of the hardest working and dedicated players that I had the pleasure to coach at Algonquin. To top it off, he was just as a good a person."
