Meet the Confectioner Behind Hebert's Chocolate

With Easter just around the corner, Tom Reed mixes science, art and cooking while he oversees the chocolate-making operation at Hebert Candies in Shrewsbury. 

He was trained in the old-school candy making tradition as a child. Reed learned the art of making toffee, fudge and caramel by hand and he has been doing it that way ever since. 

Reed says the most rewarding part of his job is seeing his customers enjoy his product. 

"I love my job," Reed said. "My most rewarding time is when I'm done making and I get to go on the floor and people bite into something and say 'this is the best thing I've ever tasted.'"
