Have you noticed a new restaurant while driving around the MetroWest area recently? We know you don't just stay in town when you want to eat out: so here is a round-up of restaurant news around the area.

Milford

Frozen Yogurt Shop Opening in Milford

Tuan Lam and his business partners, Derek and Lindsey Tran, noticed this when they started scouting out locations in the region for a frozen yogurt shop.

Frozen yogurt has been around for several decades, but it's enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, spurred by people trying to eat more healthy alternatives to ice cream. Shops in Franklin, Holliston and surrounding towns sell the creamy, low- to non-fat treat.

Now Milford will get its own: Yum Yum Froyo.

Shrewsbury

What Does Bison Burger Have on its Menu?

Bison Burger opened in February, and since then readers have been asking where they can find a menu for the restaurant. The short answer is that they don't have a website yet (one is under construction at the moment).

Framingham

Asian Sports Bar Coming to Route 9

In August 2012, Joseph Zhang purchased Chef Orient on Route 9 in Framingham.

This month, Zhang announced the restaurant would undergo renovations and will re-open under the name Samba West.

Zhang is also the owner of Samba Steak & Sushi on Route 9 in Framingham.

Samba West, says Samba's Facebook page, will be a "Chinese, Japanese, Thai cuisine sports bar."

Waltham Restaurant Plans to Open Second Location on Route 9

The owner of a Waltham Mexican restaurant plans to open a second location in Framingham on Route 9.

Carlos Olmedo, whose family owns and operates Taqueria Mexico in Waltham, said he plans to open a second location at 250 Worcester Rd.

The restaurant will occupy the former Top Shelf Restaurant location and the space currently occupied by PC Healthstop, which will be moving across to the street to 255 Worcester Rd., said Marlene Aron of Metrowest Commercial Real Estate

Restaurant Gave Away $180,000 to Customers

Samba Steak & Sushi gave away $180,000 in gift cards to loyal customers, last month as part of thank you promotion.

The Route 9 Framingham restaurant ran a customer appreciation promotion to thank all its customers for their patience while they were closed.

Samba's closed in January when its pipes froze. It re-opened  in February.

The Route 9 restaurant, between Feb. 22-28 matched a customer's dinner bill with a gift card in the same amount.

Deluxe Depot Diner to Open in Downtown Framingham

After successfully opening two diners in Newton and Watertown, restaurateur Don Levy is ready to open his third in Framingham.  

The Phantom Gourmet said Levy turned an old train station depot into one of the "coolest" restaurants in Newton. (Watch the attached video.) He now wants to do the same with Framingham's empty train depot downtown.

The Deluxe Depot Diner located at 417 Waverly St. will occupy the existing Framingham train depot with an expected opening in Summer 2013.

Jack's Abby Brewing Expanding

Jack's Abby Brewing has signed a lease to expand. The Framingham-based business plan to lease 6,000 square feet of space this summer.

The extra space will help expand the brewery’s barrel-aging program and allow for installation of a grain silo, said a press release.

Northborough

Signs of Spring

You can get ice cream at Trombetta's. That proves that it's spring. Trombetta's has been open since March 22, and BeeZers, the Chicago hot dog king that shares the location with Trombetta's, will be following shortly behind sometime in April (owners aren't certain on the date yet).

Hillside Grille Open

"We don't have oriental dancers or anything," joked John "Jimmy" Voyiatzis, making light of a recent controversy involving featuring belly dancers at a local restaurant.

Voyiatzis began building twin colonial buildings located at 73-79 Main St., across from Dunkin Donuts, during summer 2011, after significant permitting snags. He had purchased the property in 2008.

Westborough

Coffee Bar Coming to BJs Headquarters

BJ's Wholesale Club's corporate headquarters'vendor/visitor lobby soon will be a welcome sight for team members and vendors wanting a cup of coffee.

Sodexo will run a coffee bar thee, BJ's spokesman Kelly McFalls said Thursday.

Construction started at 25 Research Drive at 4 p.m. Thursday "and will continue for next few weeks," McFalls said.

Spices Indian Kitchen to Add 30 Seats

The Spices Indian Kitchen grocery store plans to add 30 seats.

Selectmen on Tuesday night approved the common victualer's permit requested by Amar Jit Dhanjal for the eatery, which offers an Indian takeout menu, at 164 Milk St., in the Westmeadow Plaza.

Westborough Quizno's For Sale

There's a franchise for sale in Westborough. Located on Route 9, "this turnkey restaurant currently offers lunch and dinner serving soups, salads, sandwiches and catering. Newer build out with stylish and modern decor. It would cost more to build it than to buy it! The rent is approximately $3,875," the ad states.

Natick

Natick Fast Food Health Inspections

The Board of Health re-inspects all food establishments within three weeks to ensure that violations have been corrected. Failure to correct violations within the allotted time can result in increased enforcement actions.

Marlborough

Bolton Street Tavern Opens

The community has already begun to embrace the Bolton Street Tavern which began a soft opening on Monday.

“They’ve been very supportive. They want us to do well. So that is really a very good feeling,” said Manager Peter Moynihan of the new restaurant at 587 Bolton Street.

A soft opening allows a restaurant to get everything up and running in preparation for a grand opening. All the items besides pizza are on the menu and the restaurant's take out service is being delayed until the grand opening, said Moynihan.

Westwood

Bubbling Brook is Back

They're back. Bubbling Brook is back and better than ever. 

On Wednesday, at 11 a.m., The Bubbling Brook Restaurant on Route 109 near the Westwood/Walpole line re-opened for its 62nd season. 

According to its website, "'The Brook' symbolizes the start and end of summer for many in the community and is often a rite of passage for those that are new to the area."

Medfield

Chinese Take-out Only May Occupy 24 North St.

There might be a new Chinese restaurant in town.

On Monday night, the Planning Board determined that a Chinese take-out restaurant hoping to move into 24 North Street is not a substantial change of use from the Fresh Catch Seafood and Butcher Shop.

Applicant JuQin Zhong told the board, through a translator, that she plans to be open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week, all year long except Thanksgiving Day. She may also stay open until 11 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
