Summer just isn't long enough. Well, parents may differ on this opinion. Either way, the start of school is looming.
Here are some important dates to know for the new school season.
The most important date? Students return to classes Aug. 29.
Aug. 20: Football practice begins at Algonquin Regional High School
Aug. 22: Freshman orientation, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. ARHS
Aug. 23: Class of 2016 dance and parent orientation, 6:30-9 p.m. ARHS
Aug. 29: Students return to classes at at Northborough schools, including the Melican School, Lincoln Street School, Peaslee School and Algonquin Regional High School. Also Kindergarten orientation
Sept. 3: Labor DAy
Sept. 17: Rosh Hashanah
Sept. 26: Yom Kippur
Oct. 8: Columbus Day
Nov. 6: Professional Development Day
Nov. 12: Veterans Day
Nov. 22 and 23 (half day Nov. 21): Thanksgiving Recess
Nov. 26: Professional Development Day/Tryouts for Winter Sports for ARHS begin
Dec. 24 through Jan. 1: Winter Vacation
Jan. 21: Martin Luther King Day
Jan. 22: Professional Development
Feb. 18-22: February Vacation
March 29: Good Friday
April 15-19: April Vacation
May 27: Memorial Day
June 2: ARHS Graduation
