On Thursday, the Northborough Police Department, in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police, conducts a dog-sniffing drug search of Algonquin Regional High School.
It cannot be said that the students were not forewarned.
Worcester Telegram and Gazette columnist Clive McFarlane discussed Northborough Police Chief Mark Leahy's motivation for the upcoming search, a decision he says was not made lightly.
"Chief Leahy’s decision is a reflection of the increasing struggle by educators and the communities in which they work to balance students’ right to privacy with school safety," wrote McFarlane.
