A two-day investigation has led to the arrest of a Mashpee man who stole numerous items from BJ's, including Bose speakers and surveillance video equipment.

Christopher Sean Eld, 46, 82 Blue Spruce Way, Mashpee, was arrested and charged with eight counts of larceny over $250, defacing property, and misleading a police investigation. Eld also was arrested on a warrant for previous shoplifting charges.

The Asset Prevention Team at BJ's initially reported on Wednesday, March 6, that store employees found an empty package that had contained Bose speakers. The protection team was able to identify on surveillance video the suspect removing the speakers from the packages, said police.

"At the time they suspected that this thief was responsible for similar theft at other BJ locations," said Sgt. Det. Brian Griffin from the Northborough Police Department.

BJ's followed up with a call on Thursday to report a shoplifting in progress, with the same suspect who had been seen enterting the store. Northborough police apprehended the suspect and his driver on Shops Way, and in the car located Bose speakers and the surveillance system.

Eld is also charged with misleading a police investigation because he initially lied to the officer, giving a wrong name.

"His reason for giving the wrong information is because he had three outstanding warrants against him," said Griffin.
