Normally a late fee of $25 goes into effect March 1. Northborough will waive the late fee for the remainder of this week and through the coming weekend to give residents one last opportunity to license their dog. All 2012 licenses expired on Dec. 31 of 2012.
Dogs are licensed on the calendar year: January to December. Dogs six months and older must be registered annually. Dog licenses are sold at the Town Clerk’s office, or can be purchased by mail or online.
The Town Hall is open on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Tuesday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday 7 a.m. to noon. A drop box located adjacent to the main entry door (off the parking area) can be utilized after hours.
License fees are: spayed/neutered - $15 and intact males/females - $20. Checks should be made out to the Town of Northborough. Unless already on file valid rabies certificate (with expiration date) is required to purchase a dog license. Proof of spaying or neutering is also necessary for all dogs that were not licensed as such last year. Spay or neuter certificates or a short note from your veterinarian will be acceptable. Feel free to contact the Town Clerk’s Office to verify what’s on file.
