Summer Concerts in the Park Start This Week

Every year, locals look forward to the annual summer concert series sponsored by the Northborough Community Affairs Committee. This year's lineup is, again, stellar, and a great way to see some bands—for free—that might otherwise be in crowded bars, and playing much later. This way, you bring some snacks, plop down with the kids on a blanket (or beach chairs) and enjoy before the sun goes down.

Here's what we've got, music lovers:

On Thursday, July 12, Third Man Factor, affectionately known as TMF, blends the sounds of the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers with a sax for a jammy good blend.

On Thursday, July 26, local guitarist Jack Shanahan (who owns and operates Jack's Guitar Garage), brings his pop rock trio Abandon Jack in for an outdoor show.

The Michael Cleary Band comes to the park on Thursday, Aug. 9. The band is celebrating its 20th year of making groove, funk and rock music "with a twist" together. From Hartford, CT, you can find out more right here.

Blasting out "pop-rock that echoes the grit of My Morning Jacket, the fearless harmonies of the Beatles and the funk grooves of the Red Hot Chili Peppers," DelHill is the featured act on Thursday, Aug. 23.

Sponsored by Marlborough Savings Bank, Brendon Properties and Lexus of Northborough, all of these shows are free, and run from 6-8 p.m. at Ellsworth-McAfee Park.

Bring a picnic, chairs and blankets. Visit here for more info on the series.
